Barn at Wren Farm

A working barn reborn as a place of gathering and rest.

About the Project

Wren Farm's 18th-century threshing barn had stood empty for forty years when we were asked to transform it into a small retreat. The brief was clear: preserve the agricultural character, add light without violence, and make a building that earns its place in the landscape. A full-height glazed gable was inserted at the north end, flooding the interior with diffuse light while leaving the original timber frame legible against the sky.
