The Gallery House

A house that lives with art without being consumed by it.

About the Project

The Gallery House was designed for a collector who wanted to live with their art collection without the collection dominating the house. The solution was a series of rooms with carefully calibrated proportions and lighting — each one capable of displaying work at its best while remaining, first and foremost, a room for living. Raw plaster walls, limewashed in a warm off-white, provide a surface that changes character through the day as the light moves.
